How to host a galentines brunch in a small apartment

I have always wanted to host at my apartment, but never felt like I could since I live in a small apartment in San Francisco. This year, I wanted to host a Galentines brunch, so I was determined to make it happen. I do not have a dining table, so I had to improvise and make use of what I did have. I do have a beautiful kitchen island with 2 bar stools, so I decided to make this the central food setup.

The idea is that guests could congregate around the kitchen island or move to the living area to eat and hang out. As for decorations, I had a lot of fun putting everything together literally the day before. I had a concern about seating but made it work. I had 2 barstools, a couch that can seat 3, another lounge chair, and then an ottoman I brought down from upstairs.

I found the doilies, plates, and disposable stemmed cups from dollar tree. The candy heart tea candles came in a pack from Big Lots. I happen to own quite a bit of pink dishware and a heart shaped dish I got last year at Target, so it was easy to build off of what I had already.

Brunch is not complete without a mimosa bar. I had that in the corner with a carafe of orange juice set out and fruit to garnish with. As for my main dish, I decided to make waffles with the heart-shaped mini waffle maker my mom got me. I also provided bagels, cupcakes, and smoked salmon. My friends each brought something to share as well.

I would also like to mention that this was a Galentines brunch -slash- bubba meet and greet, my 4 month old kitten. Who doesn’t like brunch, mimosas, and kitties?

Overall, it was a successful first event at my spot, and I hope to do more in the future. I hope this inspires you to host even if you have a small apartment. Hosting this really taught me that you can really make the best of what you have.
